"Children should never ride a scooter without head protection".

This is what ADAC recommends and of course, it applies to other children's vehicles as well, like exercise bikes or bicycles. In fact, the introduction of a general helmet requirement has long been a topic of debate in Germany. In a 2015 YouGov study, 58% of respondents indicated they would support a helmet mandate, at least for certain groups. Although wearing a helmet is not yet mandatory in Germany, the number of accidents on the way to school has fortunately been decreasing since 2010, thanks to greater safety awareness and better training of children.
